Did you know a celibate scholar wrote the Kama Sutra? or that a man's pleasure is at the centre of the Kama Sutra? Or that the book only discusses sexual posture in around 20% of it? It's funny that even though most people have heard of the Kama Sutra, they don't fully understand what it's all about.
Many couples who have been together for a while are trying to find ways to spice up their sexual lives. Lacking other options, they stealthily make their way down the bookstore's "sex" aisle to take a gander at the Kama Sutra nude images and acrobatic sexual positions. Titillated, they purchase the book, only for it to remain unread and by itself in their bedside drawer for all time.
Unfortunately, they didn't realise that the Kama Sutra is a holistic approach to understanding one's sexuality rather than a quick fix for sex. As a result, ever since it initially entered popular culture in the early 1980s, it has been shrouded in a mystical Eastern aura.
Actually, the Kama Sutra isn't that difficult, and it's a terrific technique for couples to maintain their sex as exciting and novel as possible over time.
What then is the Kama Sutra? It was intended to be a pillow book. Eastern culture had the opposite stance from our Western culture, which believed in keeping children in the dark about sex until their wedding day. A "pillow book," or instruction manual for having sex, was provided to a young person who became engaged.
According to tradition, Vatsyayana was a clerical scholar who lived in the fourth century AD. He was a compiler and editor of all the information that was available during the extremely wealthy Gupta period rather than the actual author of the Kama Sutra. It's interesting to note that Vatsyayana thought that while having sex is not inherently wicked, doing so carelessly is.
Consequently, "Kama" literally means "desire," while "Sutra" denotes a thread or a thread of discourses. The Kama Sutra has ideas on how to make love a holy union, how to behave responsibly as a citizen, how to manage your household, etc., even though most of us think it's just about sexual positions. It serves as a discussion or marriage manual to address all the problematic issues.
And then there are the infamous 64 positions, which are responsible for the publication of countless numbers of books, films, and websites. According to Vatsyayana, there are eight positions times eight different ways to make love. It was a true feast.
Many people are unaware of the Kama Sutra's primary goal, which is to maximise a man's sexual pleasure. According to Eastern tradition, the guy must first fully arouse the woman in order to receive the greatest amount of enjoyment. Why? She was more likely to pass over and give him a greater, better orgasm the more sexual energy she had.
What does that mean exactly? No Western kind of sex that involves getting on, getting in, and getting off can even come close to Kama Sutra's.
Unlike Western sex, which only emphasises the centre, kama sutra sex has a beginning, middle, and end. First, the Kama Sutra offers guidance on how to get ready for lovemaking both inside and outside of yourself. The article goes on to discuss various forms of foreplay that might be used to "energise" the woman. Then, a variety of position alternatives are displayed. There are countless combinations that are available, allowing you to spice up sex every single time.

Or, if you like something more genuine, Deepak Chopra is making an attempt to capitalise on his fame with his exquisite rendition of the Kama Sutra.
If you've done the maths, Kama Sutra does indeed require more bedtime work. Couples short on time take a glance, roll their eyes, and respond "No thanks." Please keep in mind, though, that having satisfying sex gives you and your relationship a much-needed boost of vigour. Your sex will improve ten to fifteen minutes after adding the extra time.
